VANCOUVER MORRIS MEN

Casino Roy'Ale, Los Angeles, April 15/16, 2000

A valiant contingent of members of the Vancouver Morris Men and the Vancouver women's side, Tiddley Cove Morris, attended the Casino Roy'Ale in Malibu CA under the pseudonym "Vancouver Travelling Morrice". The "hunks" decided to take their chances with the locals and performed traditional Welsh Border, complete with black-face, while the "babes" did some modern Shropshire women's dances.

Most of us drove down in a 15-seater mini-van. We did the return trip in 24 hours, non-stop. A good time was had by all, as can be seen from these photos.

Thanks to Kalen Shalagan (Tiddley Cove Morris) and Mike Loos (Pipe & Bowl Morris) for the photos.

Is this the first black-faced morris in California?

The VMM mini-band, ably supported by the Tiddley "babes"

Much Wenlock (Shropshire) - more like much frantic sticking!

For White Ladies Aston (Worcs.), the "babes" provided most of the music.
(And before you ask - yes, we all played for them when they danced as well!)

Evesham in downtown Santa Monica - it's a long way from Worcestershire!

The Upton Hankerchief Dance (done properly, specially for Sunset MM!)

The California "babes" seemed to like getting blacked-up by us - can't think why!

Our "babes" did us proud as well!

The boys are back in town!
